Family Day 2026 Research, Innovation & Development at Urgo Medical

For one special day, Urgo Medical’s Research, Innovation & Development teams opened the doors to their world, welcoming employees’ families and loved ones to discover the expertise, professions and know-how behind the solutions developed every day to help improve patient care.

A total of 490 visitors took part in this unique experience.

An exceptional glimpse into our teams’ daily work

What does a typical day look like for the people who imagine, develop and improve the solutions of tomorrow? This was the question Urgo Medical’s Research, Innovation & Development teams set out to answer during their 2026 Family Day.

The aim of the event was to give employees’ families and loved ones a closer look at their working environment and the many professions that bring it to life. Behind every healthcare solution are people, expertise and a collective effort that their loved ones do not always get to see.

This experience was also exceptional in another way. Access to our Research, Innovation & Development sites is usually restricted to employees and authorised visitors, particularly because of the confidential nature of the work carried out there. Family Day therefore gave families a rare opportunity to step through these doors and discover from the inside an environment they usually only hear about through their loved ones.

Beyond discovering our professions and expertise, the day was also an opportunity for employees to share a glimpse of their daily lives with their families and loved ones, and to share their pride in contributing to Urgo Medical’s innovations.

An immersive journey through our professions and expertise

To make this discovery as engaging and accessible as possible, Urgo Medical’s Research, Innovation & Development teams designed an immersive 10-step journey, allowing visitors to follow the development of a solution from the initial idea all the way through to manufacturing.

Throughout the journey, visitors discovered the different stages involved in developing a product: understanding needs, imagining solutions, developing and testing concepts, deepening scientific knowledge and progressively moving towards manufacturing. Each step highlighted a profession, area of expertise or specific know-how, while showing how these different skills complement one another and work together to move a project forward.

Several scientific stands also complemented the journey, offering fun and educational hands-on activities. Visitors could observe, handle, experiment and, above all, engage directly with the employees who were there to share their expertise.

The aim was to make science more tangible, give visitors a glimpse into the challenges teams face in their day-to-day work, and help everyone, regardless of age or level of knowledge, understand what lies behind our innovations.

Visitors were therefore not simply spectators: they became active participants in their own discovery, asking questions, experimenting and engaging with the people who bring these areas of expertise to life every day.

When the experience continued at home

The success of the day could also be seen in what happened after the visit. Some children continued the experience once they got home, making their own dressings that evening. And for one young visitor, the day may even have sparked a future career ambition: they now want to work at Urgo when they grow up.

These reactions perfectly reflect the purpose of Family Day: helping loved ones better understand what our employees do, while also sharing the curiosity, passion and pride that drive our teams every day.

“I had no idea you did all of this! Everyone at URGO seemed to have a smile on their face — it really felt like there was a great atmosphere!”

“They absolutely loved it and didn’t expect our work to be so technical. They really enjoyed the atmosphere and were proud to see me working in such an environment.”

A collective success

Behind this day were nearly six months of preparation and a strong collective effort to develop the concept, build the visitor journey and coordinate the activities. Many employees also volunteered their time to welcome visitors, explain their work, share their knowledge and pass on their expertise. Their energy and enthusiasm brought the experience to life and demonstrated one of our teams’ greatest strengths: complementary expertise, a willingness to share and the ability to work together towards a common goal.

It was also an opportunity to share a part of our daily lives with our loved ones, show them what drives us and help them understand why our work matters. Through this experience, our teams were able to share all of this with the people who matter most to them.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make this Family Day a memorable moment of discovery, sharing and collective pride.
