From October 25 to 31, 2026, during EB Awareness Week, the international “Inside Out” campaign invites everyone to better understand the daily reality of people living with Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB). For 26 years, Urgo Medical has been committed to supporting patients, their families and healthcare professionals, helping to improve the management and care of this rare condition.
Epidermolysis Bullosa: living with extremely fragile skin
Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) refers to a group of rare genetic disorders that cause the skin to become extremely fragile. Even minor friction or trauma can lead to painful blisters and wounds, making everyday activities challenging and, at times, extremely painful.
For children and adults living with EB, wound care and dressing changes can therefore be a significant part of daily life. Beyond the medical challenges, the condition can also have a profound impact on social, family and school life.
This is why DEBRA International is organizing the “Inside Out” campaign from October 25 to 31, to help make this reality more visible.
The idea is simple: wear your clothes inside out for a day, with the seams on the outside. This symbolic gesture reflects the daily reality of many children living with EB, who wear their clothes this way to prevent seams from rubbing against their fragile skin.
A simple gesture that offers everyone the opportunity to experience, for a day, a small part of what living with EB can mean.

26 years of commitment to people living with EB
Since 2000, Urgo Medical has been committed to supporting people living with Epidermolysis Bullosa, working closely with patient associations and healthcare professionals.
This commitment includes a long-standing partnership with DEBRA, an organization dedicated to supporting people living with EB and improving their care and quality of life.
Over the past five years, more than 110 projects have been implemented across 17 countries, thanks to the combined commitment of Urgo Medical and the Urgo Foundation. These initiatives take many forms, but all share the same ambition: to raise awareness of the condition, support patients and their families, and strengthen the knowledge and skills of healthcare professionals involved in their care.
They include:
- Product donations to help support wound care
- Training programs for healthcare professionals
- Awareness-raising initiatives around E
- Initiatives designed to better support patients and their families
The Urgo Foundation: supporting initiatives where they are most needed
Created in 2010, following a call for support from Necker Hospital to help “Butterfly Children,” the Urgo Foundation has placed Epidermolysis Bullosa at the heart of its work since its creation.
Since 2010, the Urgo Foundation has invested €1,268,200 in EB-related projects and supported initiatives in 12 countries: Brazil, Chile, China, Colombia, Spain, France, Saudi Arabia, Poland, the Czech Republic, Singapore, Ukraine and Vietnam.
Its support addresses concrete needs identified locally. Initiatives supported include:
- The creation of local patient associations
- The organization of regional and national meetings for patients and their families
- The implementation of mobile consultations
- Support for family transportation to facilitate access to care
- Funding for surgical equipment, including equipment used for esophageal surgery
- Support for legal action aimed at securing access to treatments
- Training for healthcare professionals
In 2026, the Urgo Foundation is continuing its commitment by supporting local initiatives in Saudi Arabia, Brazil, China, Colombia, Spain, Poland and Vietnam.
Raising awareness to better support those living with EB
Epidermolysis Bullosa remains a rare and little-known condition. Raising awareness is therefore essential to help improve understanding of the disease and the realities faced by patients and their families every day.
Through its commitment alongside DEBRA, the actions led by Urgo Medical, and the support provided by the Urgo Foundation, we contribute to raising awareness of EB and supporting the communities living with this condition.
During EB Awareness Week, everyone can play a part in making this reality more visible.
Inside Out. Turn your clothes inside out. Help turn awareness into action.
